Welcome – we are looking forward to meeting you! Your first visit is an excellent opportunity for us to get to know each other.
First off – we do things a bit differently compared to most orthodontic providers. We’ve been creating healthy, natural smiles for kids and adults across Sonoma County for three decades, and we’ve learned how to create a positive and relaxing atmosphere for everyone.
From the moment you arrive, you’ll experience a warm greeting, a complimentary drink, and free Wi-Fi in our cozy waiting room. And don’t worry – your initial visit is totally free of charge! Dr. Lynskey believes everyone should be able to go to the orthodontist to improve their smile without worrying about how to pay for it.
Your first visit is your opportunity to get to know Dr. Lynksey and our team. You’ll be able to get a feel for the supportive, inclusive, and fun-but-professional culture that we have created for our patients. And you’ll know if Lynskey Orthodontics is where you can actually see yourself or your child receiving treatment.
What happens during my first visit?
Our new patient exam takes about an hour. You’ll start with a short consultation with one of our team members. After that, we’ll perform a complimentary panoramic X-ray and take a set of intraoral (inside the mouth) and extraoral (face and smile) photographs. These images are for diagnosing conditions, planning treatment, and creating legal documentation of your baseline oral health. Then, you’ll meet with Dr Lynskey for your comprehensive exam.
Dr. Lynskey will take her time working with you to determine your desires for treatment. From this conversation and your images, she can create a customized plan just for you. After a 3D scan, you may even have the chance to preview a digital simulation of your new smile.
One of our Treatment Coordinators will then explain how to incorporate Invisalign, braces, or airway treatment into your lifestyle. They will also go through our different payment options to ensure your treatment fits within your budget.
What will my child's first visit be like?
Because it is so important to establish trust between your child and their orthodontist at an early age, we are committed to making this a stress-free experience for them.
We like to have fun and talk about their interests with them to help them relax. We also help them build confidence by explaining the procedures in advance, answering their questions, and introducing the dental instruments and what they do, so the tools don’t seem so intimidating.
A visit to the orthodontist can be fun for your child and for you. Whether it’s braces, Invisalign, or early treatment for jaw and breathing issues, your child will enjoy a positive, comforting environment.
What should I bring on my first visit?
We ask all new patients to fill out a New Patient Form for yourself or your child before your visit. This document includes the standard medical history questionnaire and privacy and consent forms.
You can download your New Patient Form from our website, fill it out, and email it to us in advance, or bring it with you to the office. You’ll also need some form of ID, such as a driver’s license, and you should also bring your insurance information if applicable.
